I managed to install and tension the film on the first try, but I had a lot of doubts along the way.
This was my first time changing the film, so I didn’t expect it to be just a plain rectangular sheet. The original one that came with the printer was pre-cut, which caused some confusion at first. Later I understood why it’s not pre-cut, but still—it felt unclear.
The vat screws have cylindrical tips, which made me wonder if I needed to pre-pierce the film. You don’t—but I almost did before realizing.
After installation, prints started sticking to the film instead of the build plate, which added even more uncertainty.
The plastic scraper should never be used on the film—it’s too sharp and always leaves scratches or stretch marks.
Overall, there are quite a lot of small details that are not explained anywhere, which makes the process confusing for beginners.
